Thank you for your interest in applying to an ACTeen training program! ACTeen prefers on-site audition/interviews. However, if you can not travel to New York City to audition, you may still apply as a Long Distant Applicant by including two additional items to your ‘summer application’, the “Letter of Recommendation,” and a VHS of DVD of your audition monologues.

- The Summer Application. The form serves to identify your background, goals, and interests. Click on the link above to take you to the form, which can be printed directly from your computer screen. Take as much space as you need to answer the questions (use the back or add additional pages if necessary).
- A VHS or DVD of yourself performing two, 1 – 2 minute memorized contemporary monologues from any source. For all on-camera recordings, use a neutral background and sufficient lighting & sound. Make sure you announce your selection (play & role is sufficient information) and give your full name before you start your monologue. Please note: VHS and DVDs are not returnable.
Students interested in our Musical Theater Workshop should include 16 bars of a musical theater solo (students may perform with or without piano accompaniment).
Foreign students should use a DVD or an NTSC-formatted audition videotape. In addition to your submitted monologues, please answer the following two questions, which may substitute for a telephone interview. Use this opportunity to introduce yourself and explain why you feel you would be a good candidate for ACTeen. We are interested in getting to know you! (Remember that fluency in English is mandatory.)
- Tell us a little about yourself…(Your interests, family life, hobbies, current activities, etc”
- Why do you want to attend ACTeen?
- Your photo (3/4 body is preferred, but a simple candid snapshot is fine).
- Your resume, if you have one.
- One letter of recommendation from an acting teacher, director, or counselor who knows you well. An employer would also be suitable. Click on the link above for a printable form.
Include all materials and enclose a non-refundable application fee of $25.00 made payable to “ACTeen.” (Payable in US funds only.)
Then we will arrange . . .
- A phone interview. Once we receive your packet with application fee, we will have a better base for our phone interview. We will call you according to the preferred times you list on your application. This is a perfect time to discuss our curriculum, answer your questions, etc. We would also like to speak to one of your parents at this time. Parental permission is necessary to apply and participate in the program.
Application Timetable
Completed applications (including application, photo, DVD/VHS, recommendation, and fee) are accepted November through June, but Summer Academy students are advised to apply early, preferably by April 15 to ensure availability, and for best housing opportunities. (Summer housing is not available for students under 17 yrs.).
Tuition discounts for the Full Program Summer Academies are available for early registration. Completed application packets are processed within two weeks, and notice of acceptance is sent by mail. Acceptance requires an immediate tuition deposit to reserve space.
