The Talent Agent Showcase is a “by-audition-only” course where selected alumni have the opportunity to showcase their work to 8 of the top teen and young adult talent agents in NYC. These showcases are held twice a year only, typically in September and May.
Our goal: To help you gain representation!
(Teens with managers may still want to audition or participate as these agents work with managers as well. Check with your manager for approval priior to auditioning).
Four of NYC’s top talent agents will guest each evening. Most of these agencies represent young clients for film, TV, and theater as well as commercials. Each evening, students will perform assigned and rehearsed material (monologue or scene) live, but blocked for cameras, so the guests can see talented ACTeen students on film.
After the performance, students will then interview with each agent privately to discuss their goals, background etc. Students will also audition with cold material from the agent’s office.
ADVANTAGE: The agents are looking for talent. Agents return to our ACTeen showcases because they find exceptional, well-trained talent! Our teens benefit from seeing agents relaxed and receptive, away from their busy offices and distractions. Finalists act and audition for 8 of the top agents in NYC in the span of one week. Students can compare agencies and responses quickly and efficiently to make the wisest career decisions.
WHO’S ELIGIBLE: recommended alumni of ACTeen Workshops.
(Instructors recommend students based on talent, diligence, and attendance. Students must have attended at least 3/4 of the course to be audition eligible.) Students are advised to have Commercial and Film course experience prior to auditioning. Proper training is essential!
AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD: by appt. early April or early September. Alumni only may call for appointment one month prior. The top scorer receives a Full Scholarship for the showcase!
AUDITIONS: We will hold auditions to select 12–14 participants. The audition will consist of two cold-readings (we provide the scene, monologue, or commercial copy). Dress attractively/commercially! Bring photo & resume correctly attached. Also bring email address (for notification) and parental consent form.
JUDGING: Students will be judged by panel of 3 judges (including a casting director or agent) on . . . TALENT, MARKETABILITY, & PERSONALITY. There is no fee to audition. Selected finalists will be notified.
REHEARSALS: Students must be available for at least four mandatory rehearsals. Rehearsal schedule (including Saturdays and weekday late afternoon or early evening rehearsals) should be carefully examined and discussed with parents prior to making an audition appointment. Changes to rehearsal schedule for finalists once set are not adjustable!
AGENT NIGHTS: Two evenings, dates TBA. (Check your ACTeen mailings!)
TIME: 5:45 – 8:30 P.M.+ (It may be possible to leave early some evenings).
FEE: $350. This is a course and as such, has a tutiion fee EXCEPT for the scholarship winner. (Finalists must pay their tuition IN FULL by deadline, or the next student on the runner-up list will be chosen. Payments are made out to “ACTeen Inc.')
SCHOLARSHIP: The top scorer will receive a full tuition scholarship!
RESULTS: finalists are notified by phone on judging day. We will request an accurate email address for rehearsal specifcs.
These showcases are held in late September and May. We only hold a showcase when the ACTeen teaching staff estimate that enough talented graduates exist without representation to make our showcase a worthwhile and impressive event. Alumni not accepted into an upcoming showcase are always eligible to audition for later showcases.
