Students learn plot development, character, dialogue, conflict, etc. through improvisation and performance of finished work. Students complete written assignments read, discussed and analyzed in class. Taught by Gino DiIorio award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and Associate Professor at Clark University in MA. Gino DiIorio’s play “The Hard Way” won 1st place in the BBC’s 2005 International Playwriting Competition. Winner Berrilla Kerr Award for Playwriting (2003). Recently his play “Apostasy” was performed Off-Broadway at the Urban Stages Theatre. He was the winner of Urban Stages’ “Emerging Playwright Award” for 2007. Gino has written a number of screenplays, including “Fatboy” and “Morally Straight”, an Austin Film Festival Semifinalist. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild, The Association for Theatre in Higher Education, as well as the Chicago Dramatists Playwrights’ Network. He is also a member of SAG, AFTRA, and AEA.
