Thank you for your interest in applying to an ACTeen training program! ACTeen accepts applications from all over the world. If you can not travel to one of our audition sites, you may apply as a Long Distant Applicant by submitting your ‘Summer Application’, the “Letter of Recommendation,” application fee, and a link or DVD of your audition monologues. Alternatively a popular option is to arrange a Skype audition appointment to view monologues 'live' online. Phone interviews can also include this video chat feature.
Please submit . . .
- The Summer Application. (Completed forms may be faxed to 212-768-8918, or emailed.) The form serves to identify your background, goals, and interests. Click on the link above to take you to the form, which can be printed directly from your computer screen. Take as much space as you need to answer the questions (use the back or add additional pages if necessary).
- Your photo ( a candid color snapshot is fine, or send headshot if you have one.
- Your resume, if you have one.
- A letter of recommendation from an acting teacher, director, or counselor who knows you well. An employer would also be suitable. Click on the link above for a printable form, or they may use their own form.
- Include all materials and enclose a non-refundable application fee of $25.00 made payable to “ACTeen.” (Payable in US funds only.) If you are emailing or faxing your application and photo please mail your application fee promptly, as we cannot process your application without it.
Your Audition
Please prepare two, 1–2 minute memorized contemporary monologues from any source. Students interested in our Musical Theater Workshop should sing 16 bars of a musical theater solo (students may perform with or without piano accompaniment). Please announce your selections (play title & role is sufficient informaiton) and give your full name before you start your monologue.
Foreign students should use a DVD formatted for USA useage. In addition to your submitted monologues, please answer the following two questions, which may substitute for a telephone interview. Use this opportunity to introduce yourself and explain why you feel you would be a good candidate for ACTeen. We are interested in getting to know you! (Remember that fluency in English is mandatory.)

Then...
A) Mail your DVD filmed audition to us with your application materials, or send us a youtube, flickr, or online link to view. For all on-camera recordings, use a neutral background and sufficient lighting & sound. We do not expect studio recording expense. Remember to review your completed tape before submitting to insure it's quality! Please note: DVDs are not returnable.
B)...OR ...We can easily arrange a Skype audition where the audition is performed 'live' during our conversation.
A phone or video chat interview. Once we receive your packet with application fee, we will have a better base for our phone interview. We prefer to conduct via video conference (i.e. "Skype") if possible. We will call you according to the preferred times you list on your application. This is a perfect time to discuss our curriculum, answer your questions, etc.
Application Timetable
Completed applications (including application, photo, DVD, recommendation, and fee) are accepted November through June, but Summer Academy students are advised to apply early, preferably by May 1 to ensure availability, and for best housing opportunities. (Summer housing is not available for students under 17 yrs.). Applications are still processed after May 1, but any accepted student would typically owe full tuition upon acceptance.
Tuition discounts for the Full Program Summer Academies are available for early registration. Completed application packets are processed quickly, and notice of acceptance is sent by email. Acceptance requires an immediate tuition deposit to reserve space. ( or Full tuition after balance deadline)
