The ACTeen June Academy is an eight day program beginning Monday June 25 and ending Wednesday July 3rd. (No classes Sunday July 1.)  Courses meet Monday through Friday 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. and Saturday 10  A.M. to 3 P.M. All students take courses in movement, speech and voice, film acting and audition technique, improvisation, character development and script analysis. Saturday offers special audition workshops with industry professionals.

Fee: $1400 (before March 1). $1600 (after March 1) APPLY EARLY AND SAVE $200 on tuition! 

Typical Daily Schedule: (Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM)

MOVEMENT  - 9 a.m.  to 10:30 a.m.
 Physicalization, posture, flexibility, neutral mask, Alexander Technique.

SPEECH & VOICE - 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
 Phonetics, diaphragmatic breathing, vocal variety, dialect correction/remediation, oral interpretation.

12 to 1 p.m. - Lunch Break. (One hour.)

IMPROVISATION - 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Spolin and Johnstone theater games. Listening and risk taking exercises.

FILM TECHNIQUE AND SCENE STUDY (2-Camera Studio) - 2:30 to 5 p.m.
Character work on film and television scripts. Technique work including Meisner and Method exercises. Finding the life of the character.

Saturday Schedule:

MUSICAL THEATER or MONOLOGUE or COMMERCIALS 10 a.m. to 12 p.m
Special elective workshops with guest artists

12 to 1 p.m. — Lunch Break

AUDITION - 1 to 3 p.m.
Special Audition workshop with guest Film casting director


 Registration Information

TO APPLY:   Please see the summer admissions page  for information regarding required Summer Application, application fee ($25), photo, monologue requirements and information on scheduling an audition appointment. Students requesting a New York City audition should contact Rita Litton, ACTeen Director, at 212-391-5915 to arrange an on site interview audtiion. Interviews are held at 35 West 45th St., 6th floor, New York, NY, 10036.(ACTeen alumni do not have to re-interview). Students can apply late November through mid June, if space is available.  After May 1 application materials may be brought directly to the audition to save processing time

AUDITION INTERVIEWS are held weekday afternoons or Saturdays by appointment. Call or email. 
Prospective students who cannot travel to New York City because they live outside the tri-state area are “Long Distant Applicants” and should refer to ACTeen’s long distance applicant information page for additional requirements to their submitted application.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Students should prepare one or two contemporary monologues from any source. Monologues should be no more than two minutes in length and memorized.

ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION: Students accepted into the summer program are formally notified by email within ten days of their audition date, sooner after May 1. IF you do not hear within ten days email or call immediately, as information may have been inadvertently deleted!

IF ACCEPTED: Students must return the completed registration form, a deposit of 50% (half) of total tuition, and a $25 non-refundable application fee (if unpaid) within two weeks of acceptance letter to secure placement. Cash, personal checks, or money orders are acceptable. (NO CREDIT CARDS) (Please make checks payable to “ACTeen”). Please do not send cash through the mail. Students who register by March 1 save $200 on tuition costs via our "Early Registration Discount"!

BALANCES DUE:  For all accepted June Academy students BALANCE OF TUITION IS DUE by May 1. Students auditioning or accepted after May 1 pay tuition in full upon acceptance. Students with balances outstanding after June 1 jeopardize their reservation for programs.

LATE REGISTRATION:   We still accept applicants after May 1however, accepted students pay tuition in full with registration form. All workshops fill in order of deposits received, and we regret we cannot hold a space for any student without timely payment of tuition.

CANCELLATION POLICY: June Academy cancellation requests must be received in writing, signed by a parent or guardian, and arrive by May 1st to receive a full tuition refund (less non-refundable application fee).  No refunds or credits after May 1 or after classes have begun for any reason. This policy is firm and necessary to maintain our small class composition.

Note: Tuition paid after June 15 must be paid by bank check, money order, or cash.
Note: We have a $20 fee for returned checks, which require an immediate cash or money order replacement.
