This is an advanced acting course, or best in combination with Tech I or Tech II. In this scene study class emphasis is on creating characters common or unique to television and film. Students must now go beyond their immediate experiences to find the character conceived by the writer. Students are encouraged to take risks, and make difficult choices. Through improvisational exercises students begin to differentiate aspects of character status, appearance, background, speech, life experiences, etc. Students portray at least four contrasting roles, from the extensive film/TV library of the ACTeen director. Class discussion defines particular problems, themes and audition problems inherent in a variety of on-camera material — feature films, indie films, episodic Television series, situation comedy, TV pilots, etc.
*** This course may be taken on a continuous basis as Advanced Film Scene Study.
Available in the June Academy, July Academy, August Academy, and Saturday Academy, Fall Program, Winter Program, and Spring Program
#STUDENT COMMENTS
“Film Scene Study was my favorite workshop because I loved working on really interesting scenes (comedy, drama, etc ) actually getting to see it on the camera”
"I got to really explore the art of film acting and utilize all of the skills I’ve been learning in technique class, while still in a class room setting.”
“I learned the most about analyzing every tiny detail about each scene and each character. I never realized how important that was and how much more realistic it made the scene.”
“I learned how to be truthful and believable on camera.”
“I learned to take criticism and use it to make my scene better. I also learned how to take on the actions of a different character that I don’t usually play. I also learned to LISTEN to the actor I am working with and that there are so many more important things than just the lines. There are many moments in between.”
“I feel I have accomplished so much in this course! I learned that you have to just go for what you are doing 110% and can’t hold anything back.”
“Great course! I love it. It’s definitely one of my favorite courses here. This is the second time taking it but I learned so much each time. I really feel that I’ve accomplished a lot in this course.”
“My favorite teacher-- able to really see what you already know, what you have the potential to do, and then, quickly, & efficiently, nurture you, so your potential becomes reality.”
“I love Rita Litton, she reminds me of my football coach: always pushing you to your limits so you become a better actor.” “Rita is a great teacher and acts more like a director than teacher which I love.”
“Always smiling and knows how to brighten your day. She is very kind hearted, but knows how to set her point across without making you feel nervous, insecure, or a bad actor. She is very motivating.”
