Note: All materials used in ACTeen Juniors are age appropriate, and collected from recent film, TV, and theater projects, as well as from the vast ACTeen collection.
Commercials | Theater | Film/TV | Workshops for Parents
Commercials
Students become comfortable, and confident acting, & auditioning for TV commercials. Topics include staying natural and spontaneous, script reading techniques, taking direction, working with cue cards, partners, one-liners, and props—all the basics of commercials!
Commercial Improvisation
Many commercial auditions involve improvising off given circumstances. Improv is a great way to learn active listening skills, and polish your comic timing! Student become freer and more confident taking direction in all audition situations (not just those for commercials!). Our terrific staff of improv teachers (who perform improv professionally) guide students in learning the skills needed to book commercials, and insure they have an amazing and fun experience!____________________________________________________________________________________
Theater I
Students are introduced to skills that allow them to listen actively and become more spontaneous by utilizing their natural instincts and experiences. Theater games and improvisations are used to develop creativity, develop original characters, and build confidence. Scene and monologue work help apply key concepts. Final work is presented to parents during the last class .
Theater II
Skills and techniques introduced in Theater I are reviewed as students explore more challenging scenes and monologues and learn to make stronger choices. Character development, scene study, audition and rehearsal process are key topics. Scenes and monologues are presented during the last class for parents.
Musical Theater
Students study with a top NY vocal coach to develop a repertoire of material to use for audition purposes. This class stresses proper breathing techniques and vocal skills, song interpretation, characterization, solos, and duets. Parents are invited for a final performance.

Film I
Students portray their favorite characters from TV and film while learning acting techniques that have made their favorite stars successful actors and actresses! Students work on camera in all classes and view playbacks at the end of every class for critique. Honest and natural 'moment to moment' acting is the result.
Film and TV Auditioning
Students explore challenging dramatic and comedic film scenes and TV roles. They are encouraged to make stronger choices, play against type, and take creative risks. Audition technique and cold readings are covered in depth. Students work on camera in all classes and view playbacks at the end of every class for critique.

The Business of Show Business -Workshops for Parents
These workshops are just for parents! The business aspects of the “the biz” can be confusing and difficult to navigate! Discussion topics will include: terms used in the business, unions, trade papers, child labor laws, work permits, taxes, differences between agents and managers, how to approach agents/mangers for representation, the agent/manager interview, keeping a good relationship with your child’s agent/manager, headshots/photographers, resumes, cold readings, the best way to help your child with scripts, dealing with rejection, and how to best balance work with family and school.
