Housing

ACTeen does not provide living quarters, transportation or off-studio supervision for students. However, mature students aged 17+ who have submitted completed applications to our Summer Academy may request information regarding affordable dormitory and apartment housing in NYC. Some are within walking distance of our studios, and most provide cooking facilities or meal plans.

Teens from out of state sometimes travel and lodge with a parent or guardian (especially during our briefer June Intensive, or August Academy). Some teens stay with relatives or friends within the tri-state area for the academy duration. ACTeen’s ideal location, convenient to all mass transportation hubs in New York City, make it logistically feasible to commute daily from

Interview/Audition

An interview at the NYC studios is recommended for new students. We also require an audition for all Summer Academy applicants. Please see the “Summer Admissions” Page for information on summer admission policy and necessary application forms. For suggestions on where to acquire plays, monologue books for young actors, or sheet music, see the Links page, and click on the relevant source. Prospective summer students who cannot audition in New York City should refer to the special long distance application. Contact Rita Litton at (212) 391-5915 for more information.

Registration Forms / Deposit

To find a semester’s registration form, please visit our forms page. Note that new students have usually completed their interview successfully before submitting registration forms. Registration must be accompanied by the deposit and application fee, with BALANCE DUE BY DEADLINE. Note: late tuition balances are subject to higher tuition fees and must be paid by bank check or money order. Classes fill in order of deposits received. Please list alternate choices where convenient. Please note registration or discount deadline on schedule.

ACTeen Summer Academy completed applications should be submitted before an audition can be arranged, and are accepted on a rolling basis, beginning November 1. However, Summer Academy students needing lodging are advised to apply early, preferably by April 1 for best housing opportunities. (Summer housing is not available for students under 17 years).

Tuition discounts for Summer Academy students are available for early registration. Accepted Summer Academy applicants are formally notified by mail, typically within two weeks of their audition, or long-distance application completion. Acceptance requires an immediate deposit of 50% (half) of total tuition, with balance due by deadline.
